FAQ’S
Where are Nagamaki Shears made?
Our Nagamaki Japan and Tezukuri collections (Master Series & Zero Friction Shears) are 100 percent handmade in Japan.
Our Nagamaki Korea collection (Expert Series) are all handmade in South Korea.
How do you know where your scissors and shears are made?
That answer is very simple, they should be marked with their country of origin on the actual steel of the scissor or shear. All of our scissors and shears are marked on the back of each scissor and shear with their country of origin “Made in Japan” or “Made in Korea”.
What makes a scissor or shear authentic?
The actual scissor or shear will be marked with its country of origin on the physical product, on the steel. In our collections ”Made in Japan” or “Made in Korea”, are clearly marked on the back of every Nagamaki Scissor or Shear, this is true Authentication, and no, the words Japan or Korea in any other order is not the same as being Made in Japan or Made in Korea. Professional Scissor Companies with factories in other countries where their scissors are actually being made must import their scissors and shears into the United States, so authenticity can always be provided via the import records as proof if needed, as these items must go through International Customs from both the exported country as well as imported country.
Where can I buy Nagamaki Shears?

What does the Lifetime Warranty cover?
The Lifetime Warranty covers manufacturer defects for the life of the scissor or shear (a 10 year period). These types of defects are extremely rare and in most cases aren’t not fixable by anyone other than the factory that made them. In these extremely rare cases Nagamaki Shears will replace the exact model free of charge or if the defective model is no longer offered, a credit will be issued for the entire purchased amount of the defective model towards a new pair of Nagamaki Shears, once the item has been inspected and deemed a true manufacturer defect. Types of manufacturer defects include: non mechanical or chemical induced pitting, non mechanical or chemical induced porosity, defective weld protrusions, and or forge laps or seems. These defects only occur during the manufacturing process and can’t be replicated in any other way. These defects are extremely rare and are most likely to be noticed or caught during Nagamaki’s initial inspection of the items upon receiving them as well as the testing and inspection before packaging.
Please note this coverage is for the manufactured blades in their entirety and not the wear items or replaceable parts such as: tension screw or bolt, ball bearing system, tension plate, removable tangs, and rubber stoppers as these parts wear over time and eventually need replacing.
Normal wear and tear, dulling, and rusting due to a lack of daily maintenance such as ensuring proper daily tension, cleanliness, and regular oiling are not manufacturer defects. Damage caused by neglect or abuse and all Nagamaki scissors and shears serviced by unauthorized sharpeners will void your warranty. All service work should be performed by our authorized sharpening company.
